Sea Ray 100 4 Cylinder 2 stroke Outboard
My First boat and is a Sea Ray 160 BR. Looking for proper Model and serial number I am a heavy equipment mechanic and have diagnosed alarm circuit which stays on when key is in run position I need an electronic part that has failed ( fault going to ground) which is used to monitor 2 stroke oil level within oil reservoir. No marina in my area can help me identify which Mercury engine model and serial number I have so that I can order correct part. All I can tell them is that it is a Sea Ray 100 2 stroke. I can't find any ID tags even from drive. Thanks

Al,

My father in law had he same boAt and engine. It's a 100 HP Mercury. Pull the engine cowling and you should be able to find a Mecury data plate. For a couple of years SR had Mecury outboards and sterndrives painted oyster white with their own private label.

Great running boat, especially on smooth water trimmed up. His would too out in the low 40s - GPS.

Oops. I see you've looked. The other place to look (if you haven't already) is along the mounting bracket with the engine tilted up. Also, try contacting Sea Ray service with your Hull ID number. They may still have the records on file for the engine.

Thanks for response. New here and trying to figure out how to post pics. I love the pic of your boat by the way. That's more the size I'd like to get in to. I have hull number and will contact Sea Ray for records. Regards Al

No data Plate. There is a control module I'll call it for the spark coils mounted on the engine and it has a definite Mercury paper sticker with Merc name and a part number for that part So it's obviously a Merc. I have contacted a Sea Ray dealer in area working on it too. I would have done this info work long ago to be ready if parts were needed if I new it was this much trouble. I still can't believe there is no Merc name plate and just the Sea Ray name on cowl. The marina's in the area are either lazy or just don't know as they want model of engine before they order parts. I can't be the first one! Hey, Thanks for help. We'll get it figured out. Al

If your looking for the oil tank float switch, I would think anything from a 90 to a 150 would be the same part.

Thank you. Although I don't have a definitive model/serial number yet you are correct. I was looking for the electronic module for low oil in res.

I found a part pic breakdown and a number, finally, and it is used on a lot of models
It is the 14857 1 module
Thanks
Al
