whats too young? my baby will be around 6 months when spring rolls around and we already have a 0-12 month old life preserver for her. just worried. she's so fragile. anybody have stories of babies??

Get her out there as soon as possible! I have been boating since I was 6 months old. My son was only a few months old. He would go right to sleep. He was never a problem to have out there. Just remember the sunscreen!!!

asap my daughter was on are cuddy at 6 mo. and slept better on the boat then at home, just be ready to burn a little xtra fuel it seems they like the vibration or noise of the motors and there were times that we would cruise past are destination to let her sleep longer, she's almost 13 now and loves boating

A 6 month old on your boat will be fine... down below until the life jacket fits.

We started ours early and they did fine.

Much more practical than a potbelly! (sorry , just a reference to another popular thread here).

We had the twins out at 6 weeks and they've never complained about their lifejackets since they've lived in them.

OOOOOO...I thought you were going to show us pictures of your wife giving birth on the boat....My bad

My son was about 3.5 months old by the time the spring arrived. We had all necessary stuff for him to provide home like comforts and he was just fine. This was on our 240DA. Thanks to him we couldn't keep that boat more than another year and ended up in 320DA...LOL.

We had our twins on the boat at 2 months, and from then at least monthly. We usually spend 4-6 days at a time. We started on a 290DA, and now have a 36DB. Life jackets while in the cockpit. They sleep great on the hook, and back at the slip overnight.

Ditto to all the above. We have 5 kids, including twin 4 year-olds. On our old 300 weekender, a pack-and-play fit perfectly on the deck with the babies in it. They ask for their life jackets when they get aboard.

Our kids started boating right after they were born. Our youngest used to fit on a shelf above the vberth of our 26 foot searay. We didn't go out on Lake Michigan with him there, but putzed around our small lake and the river with him tucked in up there. The sound of the motor and water put him in La La Land right away. They both went cruising on Lake Michigan at about age 6. At that age they liked going out on big lake and would soon go below to snooze until the sound of the engines changed as we approached our destination.

Our son Knox started at 3 months. He was born in february or he owuld have been out sooner. We put the life jacket on him about once a week during the winter so he was used to the idea of it. The kid actually loves it. I would suggest getting a neoprene jacket so it is a little more comfortable

We took our little girl for a midnight cruise at 5 weeks old (she's 20 months now) and loves it. I have to run the genny to get her to sleep but she will sleep for hours. Remember plenty of diapers, formula and sunscreen. I will have her running the boat by the time she's 7!

Todd, What are you doing with BANANAS on the boat thats bad Juju. :wow:

My first steps were on a 17' cuddy cabin. They would dump me down below while they fished.

We have had a grandchild or two with us almost always when at the boat. They have been coming since babies and don't want to miss it. They cry on the rare occasions we say not this time. We insisted that they take swim lessons right from the start before they could even walk and they still are. They're 4 and 7yo and there abilities are to the point that they could actually help themselves.

Be prepared to try different style lifejackets. I started with an expensive Body Glove black neoprene vest for my daughter when she was about 6 months old. She never did like it. I think the neoprene either stuck to her skin or the black color made her too hot. Got her a cheap pink stearns vinyl jacket and it didn't bother her at all.

My boy took his first ride at about 2 months old. It was kind of a test trip... I stayed in a calm area and kept the noise down. He loved it! The little man had an excited look on his face and was waving his arms around... goo'in and gaga'in :smt001 it was really cute!
Then he had a big bottle and a good long nap...
Like father like son.

Ny questions???? 11 months old grandson at Lake Keowee. Alway wears full body life swim suit when on the boat. Dad took the life vest off for the picture then it went back on again.:smt038:smt038:smt038

Here's a picture of the first boat I stepped foot on. It's the big ugly one that all the subs are tied to. Old man was an electrician and Petty officer on the sub tender for 12 years.
