Have you seen the ZIPWAKE?

Not for me. I don't like electrical components in salt water. I'll stick with my Bennetts.

looks interesting but unless I am missing something these are just another method to trim the boat the same way that conventional trim tabs do.....if there is no real performance advantage (other than a few seconds of time for deployment) over conventional trim tabs I see no real reason to change unless you just like new gadgets....

I am a Bennett fan as well. That said...I am curious on their statements regarding drag. They say that they have less drag (which would be a good thing) but no real statistics to back it up. I would think the physics would be similar.

This is a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" thing for me. I had 10 years of use on my Bennett tabs on my old 390EC, with a total repair cost of one $1.00 o-ring…..followed by 20 years of flawless performance from Bennett tabs on my 450DA. Why even consider a replacement? Dump in full tabs then raise them slightly as the boat levels out on plane to find the best speed. That is plenty dynamic enough for me since I never need to adjust the tabs once they are set.

It is an interesting concept, though……………..

Seems like the biggest benefit is the automatic / dynamic trim function. Uses pitch and roll sensors to automatically trim the vessel. With a claimed faster reaction time, I infer that the system can hold a level trim better in swells etc. Traditional tab systems can have an automatic trim function but wouldn't be quick enough to provide dynamic stabilization.

Fuel improvement claims are interesting also, but there isn't enough benefit vs. cost for me to switch. It does look pretty neat though.

and here is a video from 2012 by Volvo Penta

Wow....Zipwake looks like a direct knockoff or they bought the development rights from Volvo.

Or vice-versa. VP might be branding Zipwake's product. The video is 5 years old so the could have updated the control panel in that time.
