You really need to ask your girlfriend - not us. If she was OK with you leaving then you did the right thing. If you put strain on the BF/GF relationship then you should have waited until a time agreed by the GF.

I disagree! If my girlfriend (or wife) was defending the 22 year old that was late, she would be sitting on the dock to greet the late daughter when she arrived. She could then tell her that the boat left without her!

Well, I am kinda like Chad--if I told invitees when the boat leaves and they are not there, then they must not be too keen on going. If the airline told them the plane leaves at 10 and they showed up at 10:15, do they think they are going to hold the plane for them?

If my Mom was late, she would be standing on the dock next to my GF's daughter looking at an empty slip!

When we are planning on taking out guests, I ask for cell phone numbers in advance and make sure they have mine. If they are a no show at departure they get a call from me first and then I decide if I should wait or not.

This is one of the many issues with today's younger people they think there are no consequences for their actions and you just proved them(her) wrong... BRAVO !!

I really dont think age has anything to do with it. Late people are late throughout life, getting older never changes this.

Most of the people I know are good with time except Matt (slacker), he is ALWAYS late. But, friends are friends, Ill wait

On our lake, even if people are late, we can zoom back to the dock to get them. The lake is only 10 miles long so getting back and forth is no biggie.

If I was going out into the salt like some of you where you cant simply go back, then yea, 15 minutes, MAYBE 30 if I really like the person, then bye bye.

If - I say a time - I usually will start getting things ready to depart around that time. - I would make 1 phone call to see if they are on their way or lost. Otherwise within 30 minutes - I would be off. I don't come back to the dock unless it is a planned return.

I left my wife at the dock once when the wind was blowing really heavy. She cast me off and there I went. I had to come back later to pick her up though. Does that count?

My wife's cousin and his family are always late. The last time they were supposed to be there before lunch. Showed up after dinner. Never, ever again.

I have an older sister like that. One time she called me at 10am to see if she could pick me up & have lunch at noon. At 3pm she called to tell me she was running a little late.

I would leave without them. I can't stand people being chronically late. If I'm expected to be somewhere at noon, then most often I'm there by 11:45. I hate running down to the wire. My wife and kids laugh at me because I keep my watch set 5 minutes fast so I have some extra cushion in case I hit traffic or other delay.

leave without 'em.

Call them. If no answer, take off after 1/2 an hour. They want to go on the water, tell 'em to get their own dinghy.

every wed. night my boat leaves the dock at 1830. at 1831 your looking at an empty slip. After the first night no one is late.

I once broke up with a chick on valentines because she arrived 3 hours late. She still calls me every valentines (10 years) to wish me a "Happy breakup day". I swear I can hear a knife sharpening in the background.

I think it is time for a new phone number. . . .

It's happened to all of us I bet. Some people like having other people wait for them.
For myself it absolutely depends on the guest. If it were my mother escorting my gramma down for a cruise; I'd just wait obviously. Pals; if there's a call saying they're running late, that's ok... I'll wait then too. However, if they aren't there at departure time and there's no phone call... it's "see ya' later"! Too bad - so sad - b'bye!

I cut them a little slack if the're bringing the steaks and beer, otherwise you best be calling or answering your phone.

I notice that a group of guys are seldom ever late. It's always couples for some reason.

Really I have no problem with that.... Actually I am always lateeeee! but I am the captain so it is not a big deal for me :) in addition usually when I arrive to the marine everybody is already there :D so I don't have to wait :D ....

Seriously is some one is missing before leave the marine I usually call just to know where they are if they are on the way or close and I can, for sure I will wait!

Noon means noon...

Courtesy call buys you a few if contigent upon past performance.
