today hatch lift not functioning at all. Fuse ok. Power to other switches? Any suggestions welcomed. Is there a manual over-ride on a 420?

Solved thanks to Jason at Hurst Marine. The problem was a small sensor on transom door/boat frame recess that has to contact a matched metal tab on the door to prevent the lift from working and damaging the door if not fully open. Taped a dime to wall covering sensor and power was restored to hatch lift. Ordering new sensor but the trick did the job. The wall sensor just wore down enough to prevent contact with the metallic button on door.

Hopefully posting the fix will help someone down the road. I was not aware of the safety switch, it isn't on my 410 so they must have added it to the 420 when they went to that model. I'll walk down the dock to my friend's 420 and take a look!

Failure to get be able to get the hatch open would be a problem. The fixed worked for me, but begs the question if some other emergency system should be rigged to get power the lift motors in an emergency. I will look at this later this spring when the boat comes out of storage.

The 420 Da has Access ports, if i recall under the cockpit seats, to pull the release pins on the actuator pistons. Thats said, i dont think it would be easy to manually lift the hatch. A rig or block/tackle maybe to pull it up. If your batteries are dead, you also have an adapter to install in the helm 12v accessory. Hook that up to a battery and it powers the circuit to lift the hatch.
