has anyone taken the 8 hour boater course?

on the other side, I got a 10% insurance discount for taking the course. Not required but worth it.

I think it should be required I'm sure most of us have taken a few courses here and there so why not make it mandatory?
Our families are riding along with us and I'm sure we all hope that Johnny boater coming at you in a narrow channel knows the rules of the road and safe operation. I may not have a 100 ton captains license but I try to operate my boat as if I have one.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. Those who want their boating experience to be safe and fun, and also take boating safety seroiusly have no issues with taking a course to make sure they and their passengers are safe as possible.
In my profession, medical, we just don't stop learning when we start our new jobs, we continue to learn and grow. Hobbies should be the same.
