There are a couple of these on my lake. Has anyone seen these bought or sold recently? Approximate value?

I know that this guy is really reaching with his asking price. We all know the true value of a boat is what some one is willing to pay for it.

There are also a couple of 310 early 90's Amberjacks for sale around here. Has anyone tried restoring them? I like the '94 due to the improved seating configuration, but the earlier models are still quite functional for cocktail cruising or a quick one nighter.

Not sure how to value that boat? limited production run, totally custom wood work, making it "one of a kind"? If you like the boat, and have $85k, go for it. She looks sweet! The interior almost looks like an early 90's AJ layout...

Ray Hunt designed some CCs back in the 70s. Looks like it might be one of his.

Yeah, that's a Commander hull. Same hull as the 30' Tournament Sportfish, and SBW is correct- it's a Ray Hunt hull design, and built bulletproof by CC. The SF hulls are sought after as worthy restoration candidates. Many say she's a better sea boat than the legendary 31 Bert.

This guy's not just reaching- he's nuts. Still 12 year old gassers. Nice, but not worth anything close to what he's asking. Unfortunately, many guys get into these resto's and think that because they put thirty or forty grand into the boat that it's worth that much more than they paid for it... he's in for a rude awakening. I'd say he'd be lucky to get 40 for it, and should jump on an offer of 35.

Here's an example of the Tournament FBSF:

This one looks like it has a Westerbeke diesel gen with a separate tank (natch)

I don't know anything about the boat, but thee are a lot of bad English typing errors in that ad. I suspect the boat if it exists is in Nigeria. But then I am cynical.

No....it comes with $56K worth of cocaine or bud aboard. Looks like a very nice boat, but the owner may be high.

Someone could have swiped the pictures but that is definitely my lake that you see in the background. I'm guessing it's legit because there are a lot of boats like that on Minnetonka -- the OP and I are on the same lake.

Hey Tonka,

Speaking of old boats, and not to steal the thread, but I've been meaning to ask you - what is the red boat on your stbd side in your sig picture?

And I like your disclaimer!

I don't know much about that boat other than it's a Higgins. You see a lot of boats like this and the CC on our lake -- I love to cruise and watch the boats. Check out the classic Carver in the background.

That is a sweet rig....at give away price.

Tonka,

I learned to water ski on Gull Lake behind a Classic CC runabout in 1954 when I was 7 years old. MN definitly has it's share of classic boats - what "eye candy" you must enjoy!

HI !
I am brand new to the club!
I have a 1989 laguna cc w/ force 150 OB/ I sold my 1976 Penn Yan last fall & picked up this 20ft 10 in cc. I am a state lice. home insp.& am aware of moisture detectors.I wish I had used a non destructive tester on the hull before I bought it ! When I drilled the transome above the water line the core was saturated. had the bottom soda blasted in the fall and found 6 breaks in the jell coat that was covered by bottom paint! letting it dry over winter & will epoxy w/ 3 coats sealer &2 coats ablative when temp is 60* I had to rewire & change all fill & drain lines & add all new electronics.
Would like to hear from other owners on this boat. wjb4076@optonline.net

Tonka,
I just realized that your signature picture and the pics of the Higgins were taken at Lord Fletcher's. I recognize the docks and the background looking across the channel over to Fagerness Point! I am a Tonka boater as well--grew up on Stubb's bay, and now keep my boat at my brother's house on West Arm, just across the lake from Fletcher's.

You are correct, that is Fletcher's in my pic. We keep ours slipped at Brown's Bay Marina across for Marine Max (well, where Marine Max used to be). Stop by this spring and say hello. You can't miss my boat...park in the small lot and I am the 2nd boat in.

Sure, I know Brown's Bay Marina very well. Throughout high school and college (1986-1993) I used to work for Minnetonka Boat Works, and the Boat Works used to own that site which is now Brown' Bay Marina. Then it was King's Cove that owned it for a while. I think North Shore Marina just purchased Brown' Bay Marina location, so this summer you will have a new landlord.

Boat Works still owns Brown's Bay but you're right, North Shore did buy Minnetonka Marine right next door and they also bought the Marine Max building. Apparently Marine Max couldn't come to terms on the lease so they are gone.
