Just bought a 1987 27' Amberjack w/o engines or outdrives. This is my first Sea Ray. I am planning a complete restoration inside and out. I just bought it but I haven't worked out the logistics of moving it and where I will be storing it. It was a kind of impulse purchase. I have a place in mind for storage but I need to get rid of a motorhome I don't use much any more. I'll be posting some pics soon, and asking for help after that.

Been working on my 83 255 amberjack check the My new "old" amberjack thread....

I restored my 270 sundancer. Same hull, but different layout. Mine has a mid berth and bigger cabin, yours will have a bigger cockpit and it's all one level. Nice boat, handles the water well and it's really big for a 270. We really like ours now that it's restored

I also have a 270AJ I am working on. I have been told by two different mechanics that people like to convert them to v-drive. I have yet to see one, nor am I planning on doing that to mine.

Anyone know the exact difference of the 255 AJ and the 270 AJ ....... just curious.

Yeah I know ......... 1.5 ft lol

Does the 270 AJ have a dinette?

Thats the only thing i miss haveing in my 255. I do have a pedestal table i set up in the cockpit but i would love a nice built in dinette in the cabin. Theres a hole for pedestal table in the middle if the V-birth but that seems like it would be very cramped.

Have an 86 "270" with small 4cyl twins. Would not call it a restoration project but i am fixing ,upgrading cleaning and replacing parts a little at a time.overall boat is in great shape! Like to see your pics and swap some info. Look on ebay for stuff. Good place to start. Look up searayman! Just search sea ray boats.

Size seems to be the major difference between the two. The 255 I saw had the table.
