Has anyone installed a step in the bilge on a 300 ?

Dennis....I always step on the batteries ....and it is not to bad of a step for me.

I very rarely get my way around the house. My dog and cat are even females....so I am way outnumbered :lol:

Ah, I see what you guys mean. It's not just about the step down... but more about the step over the batts and genny. Looks like whoever is selling that boat already installed what you guys want! Hey... just buy his boat - it's already got the step!

Jeff... I looked at your Sea Ray Living spread... do you ever get your way around the house? Or, are you always outvoted?:smt001

Jeff....I agree....a non-metal material would maybe be better to use. The diamond plate does look good though....

That is a good find on the pictures Jeff. The diamond plate would have me a bit nervous though...insulate the hell out of the terminals! My bats have studs on them but I think they have plastic covers on the threads.

It looks like the diamond plate is attached to a board... painted plywood?

I bet you're right, the diamond plate looks fastened to the plywood so you don't fall on your keester when stepping on it with a wet boat shoe.

I would like to see how the step is supported. Is it tied into the wall on the bow side of the batterys or only on legs? It must be secured in some manner to keep from flipping into the bilge in rough water.

The diamond plate aluminum would be excellent to keep from sliding off the step when going either way. Looks good too.:smt038

Here are a couple of pics I found on Yachtworld...it is a 2004 300DA....

I have never thought of building a step there.

Jeff, thanks for this find. I like the idea of the lower step across the stringers as well. I have so much stuff in my bilge, I have to be really careful where I step/stand. The upper step looks a lot larger in this pic than i would have thought it needs to be. Wish it showed how it's attached. Looks like a good fall or spring project. I step on the batteries like many others and would like to avoid that.
