I am thinking of doing that hoping i can set up course and waypoint info then transfer to a chart card for my rl80c.I just dont know what card to buy or how to transfer the info onto the card.

I have them on my iPad now. I use them as a backup to my Navoinics app but I've never tried to move them from them the pad to a plotter.

The most straightforward way for you to plan from home is to buy/find the C-Map PC Planner: http://ww1.jeppesen.com/main/corporate/marine/lightmarine/pc-planner/.

Looks like Jim at BOE sells the package: http://www.boemarine.com/c-map-pc-planner-nt-max-2mb/.

It comes with a chip reader/writer so you can use your map chip to display charts and upload your waypoints/routes back to your chart plotter. You might be able to find them for sale from folks who have upgraded: I sold mine to someone on here a couple of years ago.

Raymarine used to provide free software that could download NOAA charts and write waypoints/routes to C-Map chips (you still needed the chip reader/writer) but the latest version doesn't seem to have the capability to talk to the C-Map device.

I was hoping to buy a usb plug in type and a blank card for transfer.I didnt think of this earlier or it would be done.I am expecting to move my boat from east of cleveland to bay city mi this weekendI guess i will plot ethe first leg second leg and finish the first night while at transient, where ever that ends up being hopefully port huron or lexington mi. depending on stamina and weather.
