I think I would like to put a hardtop on my 400EC. Currently have canvas. Is this an option? If so where do I look to find one?
thanks,

Seems like I remember an issue of Sea Ray Living about a couple who added a hardtop to a 400. Large dollars as I recall.

Not sure what is driving the idea other than I like the look of the hard top. I do agree the one that was done for some big cash does take away from the SR lines.
Thanks everyone - do appreciate it.
Still Pondering!!!

Don't do it! Never seen an aftermarket one that looked right.

I totally understand what's driving it....I hate canvas and the new thing you see all over the place is hard tops.

I've sketched my boat with a hard top, trying to make it look right.
The problem is the arch is too low and to do it right needs to be modified.

I drove a few hours to go see that boat that I linked to in post #4.
His was mounted above the current arch and was very well done but, not the factory look I'm looking for.

Best sketches I've come up with kinda look like a 31-35ft Tiara Express...

My next big boat (hopefully) will have very little canvas.

Guy a few slips down from me added a hard top to his 98 - 400 Sundancer. He still has the mold. e told me the entire thing cost him north of $85,000 when it was all said and done.

That is one of my concerns. Oh well...I am sure there are other projects.

Your boat, your call. I can tell you from experience, it will be cooler under a hardtop than under canvas. Something to consider in July/August even in Northern VA. Plus, what canvas goes up at the end of a day goes up in a flash.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

There's no doubt a hard top is a great addition and is SIGNIFICANTLY cooler to stand under in the heat. Canvas is easy for the rear of my boat. Taking down the front issenglass (sp?) is still a bit of a pain.

But for $85K (!!!!!!) I'd sell the boat and upgrade to one that came with one. If you could add a good looking one for $10K it may be consideration. You'll get 'some' of that back on resale but that'll depend on how factory it looks. If not done well it could actually ding your resale.

WetDogggg - I looked at boat yesterday. For $85K, just me, I don't like it. Profile is very bad.
Copb8tx - I agree for $85K sell mine and upgrade.

Either way - thanks guys. As you keep me thinking. Truly appreciate it.
