I have a 1996 33ft Sundancer with V drives and when I am on plan at about 25mph I have a very hard time turning the wheel. Could this be a problem with the rudders out of allignment . Any idea's.:smt100

I have a 97 330DA and don't have this problem. I assume you have power steering similar to my boat. Have you checked to see if you are low on the fluid used for the power steering system? There's a cap for the filler hole on the top of my steering wheel's dash mount. I see in my maintenance manual your have to use specific fluids and have to fill it in a certain way so that air does not get in the system. Might want to have it checked out (that's all I can offer on the topic).

Guys, quick question. Do you mean turning the wheel at all, or turning the wheel into a hard tight turn. My wheel turns with ease, but on a hard over turn the last 1/4-1/2 turn it really really tight... Is that what you are experiencing?

Is that normal, I wonder if it is or is not... I usually am under the impression with that much thrust on the rudders it will be very hard the last 1/2 turn to take a really tight turn.

Hydraulic or cable steering? None of these boats with V-drives have power steering. Larger boats, like the 44DA do have power steering but not the small ones.

I owned a 95 33 Sundancer with small block/350's. It had mechanical (non-hydraulic) steering and had fairly stiff steering.

Mine is hydraulic. Did not know there was a cable version.

Hydraulic was a $1,225 option on Just Ducky. Lots of things that should have been standard were optional. I guess so the dealers could sell Sea Rays to otherwise Four Winds buyers. Options added over 40G to Just Ducky's bottom line.

Best regards,
Frank

I have mechanical(cable) steering on my 95 and it is harder to turn/steer at slower speeds. The only service to the unit is to lubricate the cable. I have the teleflex manual if you would like a copy.

regards, Dan
