Hard To Top

Below is a link to this Hard Top company. they make a top for your boat that weighs, depending on size, about 100lbs. One of the member at our club just had one put on his boat. His boat is not a cruiser but a fly bridge. Looks good and stable.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this and if there is anyone using it as a replacement for canvas.

Never seen it in use but I would think that unless you had some insulation under the top, there would be a greenhouse effect. My hard top is about 1/2 thick honeycomb and the difference under it and light canvas is night and day and canvas breathes. Plastic does not.

There are three of them in my marina. I was talking to a guy that just had one installed a few weeks ago and he was thrilled with it and the company. Can't say I like the looks myself but to each his own.

That is the ugliest top I have even seen. Corrugated plastic. I would think it is not very stable and will show its age pretty quickly. Use a this stamoid cover, not sunbrella, and you will see a huge difference in sun/heat reduction and waterproofing.

Maybe on a Laguna but most likely not on any other Sea Ray. That looks like a great option on a center console though.

The best stuff ever! My slant cover over the back cockpit is stamoid. It is outlasting all the other material on the boat by far!

Thanks for the input from both sides of the discussion. I will for sure watch his boat and hear what he thinks about it. I have to say that the Stamoid sounds interesting. I have new canvas on my boat and in one year it looks bad. And yes it is Sunbrella.
