The arch on my 390 is too low- the raised helm places my head over a foot above the arch- and right in the microwaves from the radar (probably not a good idea). I prefer to run the boat standing most of the time...
In order to fit canvas that I can stand underneath while running, it would have to run "uphill" from the arch, and that would obscure the radar. I think it looks stupid, too.

So, I was contemplating adding a half tower, which would be "over" the factory arch, but I'm not sure how this would look. No, the arch can't be removed- it's integral to the windshield.

Anyone ever seen this done before?

I have seen 2 different boats that the owner incorporated new flat lace on canvas/Stamoid tops into a tower or 1/2 tower. Didn't look too bad for a fishing boat but it did kind of destroy the EC lines.

I'm not where the boats are but I'll look to see if I can find a photo of one of them. I may have on on an old thumb drive....the boat was a steal and I needed a project, but could never reach an agreement with the seller.

Thanks Frank- helpful as always.
You say it didn't look bad; since you owned one I'll ask- would you have done it to your boat?
