Hey Tabman. Please have a look at these pictures.
I was changing the oil today and cleaning the bilge and saw some fluid beneath and adjacent to the Bennett trim pump. I have a slow leak somewhere, but can't pinpoint where. Please have a look and volley out any advice. I like to keep the bilge clean and everything operationally perfect as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Did you try taking the cover off the pump and see if you can tell where it's leaking? Man you have a lot of room in that ER.

Most of the time the pumps don't leak, but the fittings and the hydraulic tubing are different components with a different rate of expansion and contraction. You might try removing each hydraulic line, cleaning it and the pump fitting then reattaching...or just tightening each fitting a little bit.

I agree there isn't much to this setup. I had a ram (outside the boat) that was leaking and Tabman sent me the parts to fix it. If I remember right there is one screw that is holding the cover on the pump. It's right on the top. Good lick and hopefully it's an easy find/fix.

I seem to remember that Tabman had some medical problems a while back.

The solenoids (with the wires attached) have O-rings under them and are only installed finger tight. Might want to give each of the solenoids a twist to make sure they are snug.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I am on vacation this week :)

Can you tell me how old you think the pump is?

It's pretty unusual for the HPU to develop a leak where the solenoids screw into the pump body. If you see a leak there after you take off the cover you can tighten them down just a little bit. If it was a solenoid leak, the Trim Tabs will not stay in the down position, but will creep to the full up position as pressure is lost.

Check to see if both nut and ferrule compression fittings for the tubing are nice and tight. It sort of looks like there is a leak there in the photos and that is where I would start looking. If you suspect they are leaking we can send you two new ones to try, just send me your name and address in a PM.

If the fluid appears to be collecting on the top (black) part of the reservoir then the shaft seal for the pump has failed. This is not repairable and the unit will need to be replaced.

Thanks so much Tom. I really appreciate it. I'll have a closer look after lunch and update.
