I know there are risks with small propane tank grills on boats...but in calm cove....many do it.

IF (and only if) i decided to grill on my boat...what grills have you guys used....and where did you grill.

On my sundeck i only have a flag pole hole on starboard stern area...NO fishing pole holes

Has anyone tried grilling on a table? or on grill mounted on table pole....a bit worried about grease with something like this (getting on carpet, etc)

I have a small SS grill that I purchased from Lowes for like $65. It fits perfectly on my anchor hatch. I typically put down some aluminum foil before I grill to reduce grease dripping on the fiberglass. I am not a big fan of the mounted grills as I feel there is no way to protect from grease dripping (although I am sure others will chime in). I also grill on my swim platform.

There are many of us here that have the Magma grills. Mine is pole-mounted with the pole base hidden under the swim ladder hatch. That's a popular location and Todd (Nehallenia) has pictures of his install in this location. I don't see it being a safety issue if the grill was made for a marine application. Just don't mount it near your gas filler and you will be fine. I wouldn't mount it on a table or use it in the cockpit for safety and mess reasons.

The Magma grills have a drip pan so grease and dripping are not really an issue.

Yes if you have the swimstep with ladder cover, you can add Magma's pedestal base. It works great for us.

I don't think your set-up will work on my boat however. My ladder slides aft, then flips. I will need to investigate further. Maybe when my cheap-o Lowes grill rusts I will invest in a shiny new Magma. How do they cook?

That's the way Todd's and most others work too. You're not able to deploy ladder while the grill is in place. You could put the ladder down first but would you really want to board the ladder with hot grill above?

And if you do not have a covered boarding ladder you can use this type of application.
I have a Solare Infra Red Grill.
There is virtually no grease drippings what so ever because of the intense heat from the Infra Red Burner.
I have been using this almost every Sat for the past 4 seasons.

You can also buy a rod holder and drill a hole on the side to pit the rod holder in. Then use the Magna Kettle grill with the extension and adapter to get a clean look. I also have a grill for sale. Here it is.

I don't have any photos yet, but we recently added a Magma grill to our 240 Sundancer. We bought a rod holder and mounted it on the cross bar on the back of the transom. (Not the flush mount) When then got the grill and rod mount and bingo, grill installed without screwing any holes in the boat. We've used it a few times already with great success. We stow the grill in the cabin when not in use.

So I went out and bought a magma kettle grill......
I have a 1inch magnetic flagpole (metal)....found a side bracket that will clamp to flag pole, and hang the grill off to the side of the boat. I think this will work well! While i love the bigger square grill, afraid of drippings on my precious swim platform

we use a magma that mounts onto the rail on the stern over the storage locker

You can see how mine is mounted in my pictures.
