Hi everyone- what a great site. Very happy to have landed here.

I am a new member to the Sea Ray family having just taken delivery of a 2008 330 Sundancer. I was a Cobalt day boat cruiser for the last few summers.

I can't say enough about this boat. An amazing craft. We had the rare opportunity to drive the '08 330 with shaft drives and a '09 with stern drive and Axius. We opted to purchase the shaft drive over the Axius. Not a money issue, but an operating noise level issue. We found the twin sterns to vibrate a subtantial amount and the noise level seemed excessive compared to the shaft drives. The bow and stern thrusters help on the shaft and we have had no problems in dropping this on the dock thus far.

We are also hearing of some early problems with computer programming on the Axius and feel very good about our decision to go with proven shaft technology.

As a question, is it normal to experience a considerable amount of water in the cockpit during a rain with the canvas on? I am surprised with the amount that works its way into the cockpit with the amazing velcro and zipper system that Sea Ray employs.

Loving the new boat and really looking forward to getting to know more about the wonderful world of Sea Ray!

Welcome to Club SeaRay, we are glad to have you. You will want to enter your boat info into your signature line for future reference when asking questions it will be readily available. You also want to put your general location in as well so the type of water you boat in will be known. Just some things to help out in the future. Again welcome to CSR.

Welcome. I was aboard a new 330 at the Cincinnati aquapalooza party a few weeks ago...beautiful ! Have you treated your canvas with some 303 to make it repel water and protect it from UV ? Might help although it sounds like you are getting water through the zippers ?

We have not treated the canvas at all- however, you are correct, the water seems to be coming in through the windshield area and making it's way down the sides and dropping onto the floor. It almost appears as though this is a design feature. There are small drain dips on both sides where some of the water does exit the cockpit, however, we are still getting a substantial amount entering the area. Do most owners remove the snap in carpet and store below each time they close up the boat, or do most leave it in?

Welcome to the board Mike. That's quite a step up in boats!!! I love the 330 and have hopes of someday being a crusier owner.
Again, Welcome

Thanks Weave- the Cobalt was an amazing boat for what it was designed for. It was the 255 and we enjoyed it a great deal. We had been contemplating a cottage purchase, but in the end, the ability to wake up to a different sunrise each morning really appealed to us. The 330 is stunning. Hope you find a way to make the move.

Welcome Mike. Lucky for you, you live in one the best boating areas in North America in my opinion. 330 is a great boat and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. We'll be in your neck of the woods the week after next. I can't wait even though I have to rent some crappy little beat up bowrider to use while there. Hopefully the river will be calm enough for us to make it into Kingston.

I agree- the 1000 Island region is amazing. Good luck on your trip up- the POKER RUN is on the weekend of August 8-10- my favourite weekend of the summer!
