Hello Everyone!

Last fall the wife and I bought a shore house on Frog Mortar Creek in Middle River, MD. So we have a pier and a lift ... but no boat yet. That should change soon. I'm sniffing around some 2005 and 2006 240 Sundecks, a local dealer also has an 2008 230 Sundeck that I'm interested in as well.

Looking forward to getting lots more info from this board. In fact, the main reason I'm primarily looking at 240 Sundecks is the universal praise that model seems to get here.

For those familiar with the area, we are directly across from Strawberry Point, I saw the first boat of the spring anchored there tonight. Looked like a pewter Sundancer that was about 30'. Is that anyone who hangs out here?

Can't wait for summer......

Hello and welcome to CSR from Gunpowder Cove. We come down to Frog Mortar a lot. Love the Wild Duck and the new owners are great.

What the hell was that last post about?

Anyway, There are a couple of 240 Sundecks for sale locally that I'm interested in. I may be putting a deposit down on 1 of them next week.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a marine surveyor in the Baltimore area?

Thanks in advance
Fran

Hi Fran -

First off, Hello and Welcome to Frog Mortar Creek as well as to the board. We boat out of Middle River and currently tie our lines at Long Beach Marina, directly across from Martin State Airport. When we purchased our current boat back in 2006, we used Capt. "Buz" Woodward who is a USCG Licensed Master. We were very pleased with the level of detail he provided on our survey and also pointed out many tips going forward. The last number I have for him was 800-717-1807. Good luck.

Welcome,

I am located in Frog Mortar as well at Parkside Marina.

hack4alivin - You mentioned the Wild Duck. Over the years I have seen many operators come and go with no improvement (probably worse every year). I have always thought this place should be a huge attraction to Middle River and really one of those "destinations" for the upper bay. Have they finally gotten ther act together over there? I hope so, Parkside Marina is so close to it and we used to dingy over for dinner and drinks all the time but to be quite honest, most in our marina won't touch the place because of past service and inconsistencies.

If it has changed it certainly could use some good word of mouth out there.

Mike,

Check out our website (link below) for some stories and pictures about the Duck during the football season under the “Stories” tab. They have new owners and I found them to be great people and hope they can turn the place around. The last owners were the pits, and I must agree they did give the place a bad rap. I really think the new owners want to “Save the Duck”.
