On my AC power board the green LED light was flickering and something was making a beeping sound. I went to check AC power cord and it was really hot where it connects to boat. Also at the same time my generator had auto started itself and was running for over an hour without me knowing... I had gone home and was called by other people at the dock to let me know... Any thoughts? I told them to unplug, shut everything, and turn battery switches off.

BIgB, you have an issue with the contacts where your power cord plugs into the boat. Poor electrical contact between the male and female contacts is what causes that. If it was hot to the touch you were close to having an electrical fire. The blinking green light and alarm were probably signals of poor power being transferred to the boat and that would probably be because of the poor electrical contact.

If you are not feeling confident about your ability to diagnose this, get a friend who is an electrician and/or knows a lot about shore power connections. Remove the boat end of that connection and look at the back side of the plugin. You may find that the contacts are burned. If that is the case you should replace that connector on the boat.

Also look at the end of your shorepower cord. If those contacts are burned or show signs of arcing you should either put a new connector on the end of your shorepower cord or replace the whole cord.

There is a proper sequence of things that need to happen to prevent arcing when you plug in or remove the shore power cord. I could tell you but I think it would be best if you did some reading on the proper sequence and why it's important to follow that EVERY time you hook up or unhook from shore power.

You're shore power cord is most likely damaged internally from years of use. Start by replacing the cord. If the new one stays cool then it was the cord.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to test a few things and call in a mechanic.
