I love winter here in Michigan. Do I miss my boat and boating...you bet. But that makes our time on the water much more special. I also get to ski and watch my kids ski race all over the state which is a lot of fun.

In the middle of winter, we pass the time at my house on another body of water, but it's only about an acre.
Couple of years ago, I may have had a couple of Old Fashioneds, and came up with a brilliant idea to kill the mid-winter doldrums. Yes, I'm going to shovel my pond, and do some redneck curling.
Freeze up some gallon water jugs, and differentiate them using blue and red koolaid
Play some KanJam
Make some Black and Tans
Have fun with my employees and friends
That was February 2014. Later that year, I bought a Yamaha Grizzly 700 and plow. Took me about 12 hours to prep the pond using a shovel. Took about 20 minutes with the quad. Looked nicer too
Added driveway speed sledding as an event (alcohol may have contributed to this idea also)
Anyway, the Winter is what you make of it. Gotta keep it interesting.

Bracketracer, you just kicked butt on this winter doldrums crap. What a great way to make lemonade when you're handed lemons. I'd bet your employees thing a lot of you!
A little over 180 days before we go camping and boating on the big Lake. But to do that I've got to sign up this week. The Michigan State Park campground that we go to fills up quickly. I've got a site that I stay at that is perfect for me and it gets reserved fast. You can only make DNR reservations 180 days in advance. Therefore exactly 180 days to the minute I am on-line and pressing the reservation button. This Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. I will be sitting at my computer.

Oh yeah, forgot about this winter pastime. First winter we were here, I decided to test the integrity of the ice on my pond. Fortunately it was thick enough. That would have been an interesting insurance claim
