Great Day Flying

Those pics are awesome and your camera must be VERY good. Thanks for sharing! Is there a point to the refueling aircraft being in a banked turn while refueling? Sometimes you see it and sometimes you don't. I thought I heard something about it aiding fuel delivery?

If you are traveling from one point to another, going straight works great, and we do that on overseas flights.... When you are in training, or in a war theatre, generally the tankers will have an area in which they fly. It's close enough to the fight, but it's safe from SAM's and enemy aircraft attack. They orbit in that area and we go back and forth to get gas when needed.

Great pics and thread. Great to hear all the aircraft chatter. I was a tanker toad for 20 years. My takeoffs = my landings, so I thought it best to retire and get into boating.

Just passed Folley Beach on Sunday bringing the boat back from DC. Heard about the accident last night.

Do you still give your formation briefings as in--"All I want to hear from you is two's in or Mayday"? all the best and keep us safe.

Kick the tires, light the fires, brief on guard, 1st one up is lead. All I want to here from two is "2's in" and "Lead's on fire."

John,

I read every post in the thread and looked at the photos for an hour...made my day.

You know what...some things go without saying...jets are all of that. I lived in Homestead from '76 to '81. I am a Fire Sprinkler Contractor and we did several F-15 hangers with AFFF systems at Homestead, Boca Chica, Patrick and Mc Dill. I did a lot of wrangling and got a "civilian courtesy ride" out of Boca Chica in a YF-15. Flying fast over the Keys is awesome and a thrill I will never forget. I remember after we landed my pilot said to me "Flying these fighters is the best feeling that a man can have....with his pants on."

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Wow, just showed this post to my wife and kids... What incredible pictures, thanks for posting, and certainly more importantly thank you for what you do!!!

Cool.

I just got back from a trip I flew this week. I took a Falcon 900EX to Manila, Philippines - Zhensen, China - Mumbai, India and I got off the plane in Helsinki, Finland to airline home. Great trip but I needed to get home to winterize my boat for the first time. Going down tomorrow to Lake of the Ozarks to begin the process.

Can't wait to see your pics.
