hello
the grease fitting on my stern drive has come loose and will not tighten back in
probably cause of the tight location of it ...im sure the treads got damaged over years of putting the grease gun on it
i am looking for a new one
many boat stores don't have them
but i did find grease fitting in the auto part store
im not sure if it is a metric fitting or sae fitting
not looking to damage the hole inside itself
please help
thank you
jeff

The only thing that would concern me was if the threads would rust in the salt environment. I guess you could buy one of each and see which one fits. Grease it real well and keep an eye on the fitting to see if it's rusting.

If your referring to the gimbal bearing grease fitting if water does get in there it will ruin the bearing and maybe more. If it were me I would get one size larger fitting and drill & tap for new fitting.

Maybe someone else will have a better idea.
