Grand Traverse Bay help please

I need a little help guys. I promised my grandparents I would help them to spread my uncles ashes(their son). My uncles requested that his ashes be spread off of Mission point in the east arm of the grand traverse bay and I dont need to go out far as I will have 10 people on the boat. My question is I saw on a map that there is a boat launch in mission point is it any good for my boat and in general how is that area of the bay. I will be trailering for 3 hours to an unfamiliar area so any help will be much appreciated.

No mission point launch isn't deep enough how big is your boat???
Can you go over to elk rapids it's 12 mile north of Acme and 20 minutes by boat south east of mission point ??? Very nice launch at elk rapids!!!

I have a 260 CC and it drafts close to 3 foot. I am trying to keep my distance between launch and destination as short as possible since I will have a full boat.

Elk rapids is about 20 minutes from ole mission point at 20mph and it's easy to launch at and easy to get to and besides the bay has lost a lot of water, we were just up there in the spring , I seriously doubt that ole mission lunch has enough water. While ER has dredged and has deep long launch.

How about acme launch it was in good shape when i lived up there in the late 90's,you can also check distances from traverse city launches ,i think there are two one on each side of the point.There is also a charter boat rental service there mabey they will give you a deal ,i just saw the add in the new scuttlebutt magazine 2 days ago.Also sorry for your loss and hope all goes well on this trip for everyone.Glen

We do a long weekend out of Elk Rapids marina every summer. I agree with boltman, Elk Rapids is where you want to be. Once you leave the boat launch, you'll be in the East Bay. You can then make your decision as to how far West and North you want to go with 10 people on board. Your drive will be less also, as it is much quicker to get to Elk Rapids than it is the tip of Old Mission.
