My friends are renting a condo on Silver Lake in mid September. We are planning to bring the 270. Is there a good place on SL to get a transient slip there or is the municipal or North Shore a better choice? We would like to be close to them. Are there restaurants and fun tourist places near SL? Any safety issues to be aware of in the area? Thanks, MM

Grand Haven has a great municipal launch. As far as marinas, Spring Lake Holiday Inn has transient slips and is just off the Grand River as you enter Spring Lake. Barrett Boat Works and Keenan Marina are just into Spring Lake and also have transient facilities . Each of these marinas have a nice pool as well (although by mid Sept the pools may be done for the year).
North Shore is almost all the way out to Lake Michigan. Grand Haven Municipal is also nice with great access to the city for shopping and restaurants. It would be a 20-25 minute ride into Spring Lake from the municipal.
Also, you probably know that boats over 26' are limited to no wake operation in all of Spring Lake.
Have a geat time, I think you will like the area.

Thanks, Sum. Did not know any of that including the no wake part. Are 20 ft bow riders going 50 mph while I can only go 5 mph? MM

It seems the Holiday Inn has a marina near the condo my friends are staying in, anyone been there? Is it nice there, noisy, etc? MM

The city marina is in the thick of things and will have plenty of slips available in September unless there is a special event scheduled for the time you plan to visit. The marinas around here have not been filling up all summer.

You got it. White Lake (north of Muskegon) has a no wake for over 40'. So different sizes are "profiled" in different lakes!! We like to anchor out there and a 38' boat sure can put up a huge wake! Wish it were 26' there too!

Well SUM, when you in White lake Give me a Holla, We in Ellenwood, and we Love it so far, this weekend it was great, Lake Michigan was flat, Clouds were Gone and the water was wonderful.......Haven't seen you floating on white lake yet though.... We're in the 48 sedan with the Air condition Bridge... It worked well this weekend...

Been there anchored in the NW and SW corners of the lake a couple times this summer. Have the boat in Pentwater now and will be travelling north from there starting Friday. Will be back in Grand Haven by the 21st of Aug. Not sure when I will be in White Lake again this year.

MonicoMike,
I slip at Keenan Marina on Spring Lake, it has a nice pool, clubhouse and boat launch. Like Sum said the Grand Haven Municipal is right in town and closer to night life and restuarants.
Spring Lake is patroled and very stricked about the no wake, my last boat was 26.6 and I was pulled over. :-(

Sum, have fun up north !!

Jeff
