My family and I are traveling more often to new lakes here in Texas and with some of them being pretty large, I am looking at picking up a handheld GPS unit to carry with us. We have all been turned around on a large unfamiliar body of water. I am trying to avoid this happening while toting the wife and kids. They may not find the humor in it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
James

I use a Garmin H20 iFinder GPS when on my jet ski's - plus it is the back up GPS on my Sea Ray. Nice color graphics, waterproof, takes a chip, lots of info.

I just ordered Garmin H20 iFinder to use on our jet-ski and hope to use it in our boat too. I plan to install it on the jet-ski with a motorcycle handlebar type mount from ram-mount and use a vehicle mount for the boat.

I like my cheap $100 Garmin 152. :smt001.
When I'm done partying I just follow the dots back to the marina.

Looks like the dots have a bit of a weave.
:smt043 The NYS canal has a few canal markers that you have to go around. :smt001

Garmin GPSMAP 76

Nice little inexpensive handheld unit. Great for marine applications. You can buy the U.S. Inland Waters upgraded map for area where you do your boating. Good boat mount bracket available as well. You can find them much cheaper than the $199 suggested price. For a few more dollars, you can upgrade to a model with a color screen, faster processors, additional memory, etc, but the older GPSMAP 76 would work fine for the application you mentioned above.
