GPS Raymarine RC 435....

This has a slot for a memory card. My prior boat had GPS but was actually a bigger screen and used a SIM card for my area. This does seem to work most of the time...sometimes it freezes.
What would the slot be used for?

Is that the one with the monochrome LCD display? One was on the 280 when we first got it. The slot was for a cartography chip. I can’t recall if it was Navionics or C-Map. You’ll have to dig into the RM archive to figure that one out

It does have a color display, It must be vintage 2004 and came with the boat. On my prior Northstar there was a specific card for lakes in upstate NY. Wondering if this might need the same. It does track and has many of the lake features but not as many as my prior.

Our 280 was an 02, so yours must be the next version. I’d imagine given the age the significant difference would have been the display.
