GPS Needs Replacing

I have a 1997 330 Sundancer and my Garmin 2006c is not working. That model is discontinued and am looking for something similiar. I looked on the Garmin website and the pricing was $2899 - OUCH!

Can anyone suggest an alternative? Is there a source for refurbished units?

I'm on the Chesapeake Bay and need something larger than an app on my smart phone.

I took a side flash lightening strike last summer that blew out various things including my Garmin 3006c. After the insurance company hosed me I really didn't have the $$ for the latest and greatest. I also didn't want to "settle" on something in the middle. My Garmin unit was also discontinued. I contacted Garmins customer service and found out they would refurbish my unit for a flat fee of $315.00. I explained the lightening strike and possible melt down inside the unit. They said that they would replace mine with a refurbished unit for the same price if it was not servicable and they did!!

It may be worth a try before you break the bank if you were happy with your old unit.

Thanks, I may try that. I liked the screen size of the one I have and it's mounted on my "dash" so it's easy to see. I went to West Marine today and did see some more affordable but for me they seem hard to read, I like a much larger view.

I'm in the market for a GPS 17 receiver (anntenna) that goes with that unit. If the new GPS you purchase is not complatable with the GPS 17 receiver, I would be interested in taking it off your hands for a price. Please let me know.
