Well I got a new (to me) 1993 Sea Ray 170. Anything special I should know about this boat?
I plan on using it mostly on Lake Lanier. It is in great shape with a motor with only 5 hours on it.

First time owning a boat. I am familiar with towing. Just never had a boat of anykind. I have a wife and 2 smaller kids that are hoping to enjoy this with me.

Also the previous owner stripped it of any graphics other then the Sea Ray logo's. Anyone know where I can get some snazzy Decals for the boat at a reasonable price?

congrats Bigmoe, you should take some boating courses in your area to learn a few things about boating so your family can have an enjoyable time. If you have any questions, feel free to ask as there's a wealth of information that everyone can you give.

I cant answer your question because i wouldnt know where to get them. I am sure someone will chime in soon.

Again, congrats on your purchase!

hello...welcome...there are lots of sea ray decals etc. on e-bay.

How is the water level on Lake Lanier? I know the drought last year caused many boaters to shorten their season. Hopefully, you will have a much better year this year.

Congrats on the new boat, pretty good size for a first time boat owner. I agree that a boater safety course would probably be in order, rules of the road, and best practices will get you a long way!

Remember the number one rule, if you have crew members in the water the engine should be OFF, not just out of gear.....

Enjoy

no pics?

We will all have to assume the boat is pink with teal stripes and sparkly paint, and a tinted windshield.

Cool! Nice looking boat!
:grin:Congrats!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I will take some pics this weekend. Been trying to get it cleaned up and ready to go.

I am also taking a boating course Saturday at Lake Lanier.

put your boat info and location in your signature.

My first boat was a 1989 160 wich I think is the same boat with a different number designation. You can find a spec sheet for the 1993 boat when you Click Here!

Here is what mine looked like right before I sold it a few years ago.

I've got an 89 160 with the 3.0L... which as I'm sure you've figured out is a slightly older version of your boat (appears they changed the I/O version of the 160 to 170).

Thanks for the link .. Looks Like I almost got the lowest model for that year...lol :smt101

Lowest model SR=10 times better than anything else on the water twice as large!!!

What do I win?

bigmoebbq, one standing rule is that when you get a new boat and come to Club Sea Ray, you have to invite anybody here to come out for a cruise, and if anybody is within 250 miles of you, you have to offer to take it the boat to a place of their choosing and cruise them around for a day. It is just proper etiquette and if you don't, your boat will sink. Don't jinx it.

I think I'm gonna paint the boat next to mine that way just to see what it looks like... :smt043

And welcome to CSR, Moe !!!
