To all the fine boaters on this site.
Please be wary of buying anything from Goodale Marine.
I ordered a teak table for my boat from Richard after he convinced me that he can build tables as good as the ones from Sea Ray.
After one season on the boat, the lacquer started separating from the table.
Richard agreed to repair the table and after I sent it back to him, he told me that he could not fix it.
He offered to send me the money for it but after I asked him to let me know when the cheque will be ready, he told me to Kiss his a** and that he wasn't going to pay me.
He told me that it was my fault that the table sat in the sun and got hot. Okay so when you sell me a boat table, don't you think it will be in the sun.

Richard does not stand by his product and he does not warranty all his items (as stated on his website).

Please DO NOT do any business with this man or his company.

Steve - that is very disappointing to hear. I bought a custom made teak head/shower floor and it was great and held up perfectly. I had a great experience with him and I believe many others have. However, I am NOT discounting your frustration or placing any blame at all and I too would be very unhappy if a product could hold up to the elements in an expected way. Hopefully you can get this resolved.

I had Rich build me a table for the cockpit of my 420 DA. I had it for 4 years and it held up with out any issues. We opted for the oiled version, not Lacquered though. We applied teak oil 1x per year.

THe Goodale website has this disclaimer:

NOTE: All marine teak mats /grates are shipped fully assembled, just unpack them from their custom made box and lay on the deck. If our teak tables or marine teak wood products need assembly of any kind due to shipping restraints etc., this will be duly stated and discussed prior. If your table is going to be exposed to the sun, we can protect it with three coats of UV coating.

Did you specify that you wanted UV varnish when you placed your order?

I'm surprised at this. He built some teak steps for our 300DA and they were great. Hopefully you can get this worked out with him. Good luck. Brian
