Could someone recommend or describe the appropriate solenoid for this Good Windlass?

Good redesigned their control package several years ago primarily to remedy the propensity of the style solenoids you have from shorting out due to moisture intrusion. The new solenoid pack is sealed in a block off epoxy and it cannot get water in it. The change to the new solenoids is simple, just connect the wiring as the Good instructions direct you and it is about a 30 minute job.

Another thing Good has done it to change the motor and gear set in the CF windlass to a 4-pole motor and a faster gear set. This isn't free, but is really improves the operation of what I think is the best, most trouble free windlass on the market.

Try goodwinless.com that should bring you to there site you can purchase anything you need they are very helpful
We are about to find out. I asked them about the proper solenoid and they advised that can sell me both solenoids on an aluminum pan. What follows is my explanation to them. We'll see what they decide.

I understand, but the problem is that the subject solenoids are virtually inaccessible. I think I can work a screwdriver into the screws anchoring them to the board using an endoscope (they are totally out of sight in the overhead of the chain locker). Replacing the board assembly is a complete impossibility. Also, due to the difficulty, I am only going to replace the "bad" solenoid (anchor goes down, but won't come up.

I'm not trying to do this on the cheap and given a choice I would spring for your suggestion and perform a thorough repair, but that isn't possible. So, please appreciate my problem and help me out.

I would purchase the new Solenoid setup and try to mount them in a more convenient spot then wire onto the new pack take it from me if the one Soleniod is giving you problems the other isn't far behind it good luck!
