I've been without my "sea legs" for over a year due to the economy, selling both my Sea Rays. Just put offer on a fantastic 1987 250DA in pristine condition. Sea Trial is Tuesday and hopefully back to boating by next weekend.

Boat has been kept in dry storage over the past two years. Owner must really need to sell. I low-balled an offer and he took it! Persistence pays off I guess. I've been watching this boat for a year and the price kept falling (owner didn't advertise very well so it was my little secret).

More pics to come once I close the sale. I guess that Sea Ray sticker on my Tahoe was an everyday reminder of how much I love these boats. I've looked at others and they just don't compare in quality and styling.

It's good to be back!! (Well...almost.)

Fantastic! I hope you are able to stick with it and have many more years of boating enjoyment...

Well went to do sea trial and didn't make it from the dock. Engine started and idled great. But every time I tried to put in gear (forward or reverse) it died. I think it is the shift interupter. Ops manager for the storage facility called their mechanic and he said it will need new shift cable. Does this sound right? I offered to pay for the repairs (estimated about $275 parts and labor) if it was fixed and no issues. I'm getting a steal on this boat. Owner hadn't used since last July and thought it just needed to be run. It's obviously the interupter and/or cable. I guess will have to postpone closing until fixed. :smt089

Welcome back!!! Good luck with the "details" of the deal. Keep us posted.

Turns out issue wasn't the shift interupter or lower cable. Mechanic said it was the clutch dog. I'm still confused on this being the cause of the stall. (It sounded like electrical stall vs. mechanical...just sounded like the spark was being killed). I'll have to trust the mechanic since I'm not paying the bill. Current owner agreed to pay to rebuild the entire unit and shift assembly. Sea trial #2 Sunday. Wish me luck!

It is always best the have the problems fixed before you pay... Looks like a nice good... Welcome Back...

nice boat! thats exactly what mine looks like, same color and everything...
Mine would stall when I first got it going from fwd nuet rev sometimes.
Adjusted the cables and now it works fine..

Got the "all clear" from the broker yesterday. Repairs done and pre-test run complete by mechanic. High noon tomorrow and I'll be back in business. Clean up to follow and I'll shoot some better pics. :smt038

Hope it all goes well for you and congrats if it does. Looks nice, I still like the lines of the older boats.

Up at 5:30a this morning...I feel like a kid going to Disney World for the first time. 12pm can't come quick enough.

:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038 Today went perfect!!!! I'm official back! I'm tweaking the photos and will post this evening. I couldn't believe I hit 48 MPH at WOT with bottom paint. Owner said the motor was upgraded to 330hp but I didn't expect that much performance. Internals must have been really tweaked. Life is Good!!

Pics and more details of my new baby later this evening. Thanks again for all the support and best wishes.

I was going to give the full story later and still will when I upload the pics. But since you asked and I'm so freak'n giddy right now....$5K out the door!!!!

Wow, Nice boat for the $$$ - Looks great - What motor are you running?

Looks like tweaked Vortec 5.7L. It's not stock. Mild cam at idle but screams when planing out. I'd assume cam, heads, and intake. I'm going to have to do some research. It has just less than 300 hours but owner didn't know the specs. I have the PO's contact info that re-powered. Boat originated in Ft. Lauderdale and was re-powered when sold to TN owner who wanted fresh "fresh water" power plant. I'm the fourth owner.
