I found mine works pretty good with Adobe Premier Elements software.
Ya need tons of memory for the HD Go Pros, and the 1.5 terabyte external drives help alot.
 
Have you replaced the front lens? There is an aftermarket wide angle that everyone swears by. I will have my gopro pretty soon.
 
Does that camera produce sound when using it? Especially underwater? Having sound on the video adds a dimension that makes the video more interesting. Here's a link to a video I took while snorkeling on Smith's Reef in the Turks and Caicos Islands this May. Techno-Illiterate that I am I couldn't get it to embed.

This was shot with an Olympus "Stylus Tough" 10 megapixel camera I bought a couple of years ago at Costco for ~$150. It's waterproof down to around 10' and shockproof if dropped from 5' or less. I've banged it around a lot and it just keeps on taking good pics.
