In two places (engine room) the sound deadening material has seperated from the fiberglass. I need to re-glue.
Any recommendations here on the kind to use?

you are a good man Frank. I was hoping you would answer. Is there anything you don't know about boats?

Just last week I had the rubber gasket falling off. The one that goes around the engine compartment hatch. I tried to clean old glue and it just got sticky, both on the gasket and the fiberglass. Never thought any glue would stick. Someone told me to go to autoparts store and get same stuff Frank said. It was 3M gasket or weatherstripping adhesive. The glue was yellow on the one I used. I put it on the gasket, then pressed it to the hatch. Then pull it away, (it's stringy), and let sit a few mins until it gets tacky. Then press in place and hold a few mins. All I can say is I'm one happy camper!! Even though surfaces were sticky and dirty, glue held unbelievably!!!! I was told it holds up even in extreme heat.

$11.95 on ebay with free shipping. Yesterday I found a gasket on the boat that needed to be reglued. Perfect timing for this thread. Thanks

Yes, whole lots. But I have a secret that keeps my batting average pretty high............I don't guess, I don't make stuff up, I don't need to comment on every thread and I only answer questions that I know the answer to............ and that is because I have broken or worn out and then had to fix nearly every part on my own boat.

But, thanks for the compliment.

i recently installed sound proofing insulation on ny engine cover and the manufacturer recomended 3M Super 77 spray adhesive along with mechanical fasteners.....i was impressed by the instant grip of the Super 77 adhesive....the mechanical fasteners are there just in case the Super 77 fails to keep the insulation out of the engine pulleys and off the hot exhaust....but i doubt the Super 77 adhesive is going to fail based on the internet research i did...my local Home Depot sells the Super 77 adhesive so it should be readily available locally for you if interested....
