Glomex Antenna

Make sure you do a complete channel scan. The amp needs to be on. You can always hook up the antenna to a TV at home to test.

On my glomex panel, rotating it counter clockwise unitl it clicks and stops simply bypasses the antenna coax and enables the cable inlet connection at the stern. Rotating it clockwise, it will click (turning off the cable inlet connection and will enable the antenna coax) and start increasing the signal amplification. I turn mine all the way to "max" and get 3-4 channels that are 50 miles from our marina. The signal is weak enough that a passing lake freighter will cause me to lose the signal until it goes past.

I don't even try and watch non-digital channels anymore. I'll see enough snow during the winter!

Jim, mine does not click at either end. I believe that it is an older model than the one shown on their website (1998). I have tried it at many different positions on the gain swith with 0 results.
I guess that I will pull the antenna back off and check that connection.
Thanks

Take the faceplate off and then pull the knob off. One every one I have taken apart, the inside of the knob was cracked preventing it from grabbing the post on the switch. A little super glue, clamp it with a rubber band and let it sit overnight. I seem to remember that Glomex is VERY helpful, so don't hesitate to call their support folks.

I will check that next time at the boat.
Thanks

Before you dump the antenna... check this thread. Good info on contacting IMTRA for replacement parts/warranty. They were super responsive.

Thanks again, I have actually contacted Glomax and they have replaced my antenna due to the staining issues stated above. That is when I ran the new coax from the antenna to the amp. i guess I may need to call them again but, I was trying to get all the obvious problems checked first.

I am in a marina in Cincinnati with somewhat high hills surrounding the marina. My Glomax antenna produces one HD channel on my 2011 310 SD. Other Sea Ray owners in the marina have the same experience. I bought a flat panel digital antenna at WalMart for $30 and with it, I pickup 14 channels. I do have to hold the panel up to the skylight glass panel. So much for Glomax........... I plan to use four 1" square velcro pads to attach the panel to the glass when in use. It weighs next to nothing with a long coax lead. I don't like the exposed wire but do like the $30 fix.

Did you check if your amp was working and ajust it to see if it gets any better? Just curious.

Tom, Do you know the manufacture of the antenna? I do not do WalMart but, I am sure someone else carries the same thing.

I bought an RCA Model ANT1400 last week at Sears. I think Walmart carries it also, so it might be that antenna. Didn't work all that great for me, so I upgraded to the RCA ANT1500. A little better, but not really as omni-directional as the Glomex, which is what I'm trying to replace. I may try a Shakespeare 2030-G or a Winegard RS-3000 next. Getting good reception is fairly easy. What is not so easy is getting that good reception on a boat swinging 360 degrees while anchored.

Jimmy, where is the Glomex Gain adjustment panel on your boat? I have a 2002 340 Amberjack and can only find the antenna splitter block (it says Glomex auto gain adjust on it, so maybe I don't have the panel that you have?) and it's mounted behind the TV itself. My glomex worked last season and I checked the coax into to antenna this Spring, when I couldn't get it to work, which seems to be attached fine. I did need to unscrew and lay down the antenna in order to transport the boat over land last Fall. My two TV's are both saying there's no signal found this year. Scratching my head....

My boat has an “accessory” switch in the breaker panel. Turn that on if you one. My tv gets better reception when it’s on.

Mine is in a cupboard in the galley (small one up near the ceiling) which is to the left of the TV.

The AGC models are newer and did not come with your boat, and that splitter block is the amplifier too. It is supposed to automatically adjust the gain. Make sure that it has 12v power going to it and the input and output connections are hooked to the right cables. There are two outputs so you should be able to bypass the factory splitter. In my 98 there is also a selector switch to go from the shore inlet and the antenna on the arch. You will also need to do a channel scan on each tv once you determine that the antenna is connected properly.

Thanks, Jimmy. I checked that spot this weekend and it has a block-off plate in that location. Which confirms what Cocktail Time has just said about the newer AGC model that I have on my boat. I'll check the 12v at that AGC splitter and double-check the coax. Meanwhile, my kids are busy streaming NetFlix on the TV's using their iPhones, so getting digital channels seems to be less important, but I'll get it figured out eventually.

I ripped the Glomax out installed a Shakespeare 3015.... Night and Day for me.. I still stream 99% of the time but at times the air channels are good enough..
