Glimmer of hope for the republic?

I am on a phone so not easy to show you proof. Compare veterans seen and wait days now compared to when trump allowed right to chose public health care

Please do share. I am deeply intrigued. I wonder if being in a global pandemic for the last 18 months has impacted peoples access to healthcare?

Still waiting for that Proof.......

It seems Some people are more interested in Privatizing the VA and making money off of Vets at any cost.

Here is an Article about How Shulkin was fired even after constantly improving the VA.

Improving patient Care? Access Times? Nope we just want the data....

Making money off of vets at any cost - WTF are you talking about? Friigin' leftist.....

My Dad had to wait 10 months for a 'miss-diagnosis' at the supposed poster child of VA operations/hospital in Long Beach CA. He had a cyst in his L5 that caused sciatica and eventually nerve damage to his foot. This was about 12 years ago. The VA was all set and ready to replace his 'hip' after a few more months.

After his severe nerve damage to his foot and he could barely walk, my Mom told him he's going to her private Dr. because they couldn't wait anymore. Turns out, it wasn't his hip, as described above. I'm glad my Ol'man doesn't suffer from extreme PTSD. We ended up going private and the operation was successful and complete in a few weeks. However, his foot is still a mess and he has a severe limp. No golfing anymore or long walks. He's now 76 and this was 12 years ago. To friggin' young to be hobbling around.

Having the ability to choose any hospital would have improved his quality of life. Making money at all costs...blow out your ass newb.o_O

Im sorry to hear that... 12 years ago was before Shulkin took over and drastically improved the VA. Please read the article. There are people out there that only want the Profit the VA can produce.... I just cant see why that is such a "Leftist" concept. Its a fundamental concept of Capitalism. The goal is to make a Capital Gain.

Letting private healthcare help provide swift, well diagnosed care to our vets is only sensible. The private sector always does a better job at any given endeavor than the Government. The fact that the private providers get paid for their services is only logical and proper. Just because UPS handles some of the load for shipping packages and not all done by the USPS, does that make UPS a money gouger outfit? I'm sure if you could see and compare the accounts of USPS and UPS, a person would be amazed.

Like OllieC, my dad tried to get care at the VA. He served in WWII and received the Silver Star, Bronze star, Purple heart with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters plus others. The pencil necks at the VA in Spokane Washington pissed him off to such an extent he would never go back. Had there been another avenue to get diagnosis and treatment from someone who actually wanted to help instead of coming off like those VA jerks that came off like you were wasting their time, he probably would have had a longer/better life. Anytime a group feels like they can't be fired on the spot, their attitude and performance goes down hill.

Did some more reading... all makes logical sense.

So these problems were mainly addressed in the Veterans Choice Act of 2014 and later strengthened in 2018 with the VA Mission Act.

How has it gotten worse in the last 8 months?

I’m sorry to hear about both your father’s healthcare problems.

I used to volunteer at the Miami VA. I worked in cardiology. It was hard to go in to work every day. Seeing what was equivalent to third world country quality of care.

I’ve worked in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, as well as several countries in the EU including UK and Nordics. Canada as well.

Many of the VA hospitals I’ve visited were worse than hospitals in many third world countries.

It should be the opposite. Our veterans should be first in line for everything and receive every advantage we waste on illegals and communities who won’t work.

If it were up to me they would be exempt of federal income tax.

one stutters, one attempted to stage a coup.

Which one contradicts democratic principles?

You're going to have to start workin' a bit harder young fella...there's alot of border crossers that need to get their free shit.:p

If it speeds up service when I go out to eat and fixes the Chicken-Wing shortage, I am all for them crossin...

Trump said he would hire and surround himself with the best people. Those people were either indicted in jail or writing books of how horrible a President Trump was or what an asshole he is. None of them wrote anything nice about him. Another this week by Stephanie Grisham o_O

I wonder how many DEFCON levels this reduced?

I am the first to admit that Trump can be an ass. In all honesty, I would not enjoy having him come to my house for dinner. Another guy I felt the same way about was John McEnroe. He was the biggest ass on the planet when he was at his peak but if I was looking for someone to play tennis for all the marbles for this country, he would have been a top choice. Same thing with Trump. If you are looking for a feel-good buddy, look elsewhere. If you're looking for someone to stand up to the world and represent the American people, he can get things done. The Democrats all got their knickers in a wad because he was "mean".....oh dear, he didn't take time to pet puppies, and he interrupted the operation of the "swamp". He sure as hell loves the military men and women that have kept the wolves away, the police that keeps our towns and neighborhoods safe for our kids to play outside, and he loves the American people. That's number one. The fact that he is personally abrasive to some is irrelevant and unimportant when it comes time to run a country. It's what gets done that is important.

Mean had nothing to do with it Trump was useless.

Actually it is. He lost to an Alzheimer’s patient running for office from his basement and for the bonus prize he fucked us all even harder by losing the senate for us. ALL his fault. Derp.

Yes. Because multiple states routinely stop counting votes in the middle of the night...

So Rudy Guiliani said while under oath that the election steal was something he read on social media that he never bothered to check out and he has no evidence of an election steal. What a dullard he is.
