I’d like to service the GHS Hydraulic (purple) Pump reservoir on my 08’ model 44DB and was wondering how to do it and what oil to use. Any advice greatly appreciated. TIA

I spoke with GHS and they suggested Chevron Clarity Hydraulic Oil AW46.

Thanks for the reply Tom - I suspect the previous owner used mineral based 10W (ISO 32) Fork Oil (I found a quart of it in the bilge) so I’ll find out if they’re intermixable because to flush it isn’t an option…. Also, do you have any idea where to pour it and when to stop? There is a ‘pop off’ cap that looks like it covers a filling point but there is a piece of foam in there too so I’m not 100% that’s it …

Now that I've proven to myself I don't know how to draw a circle, or an arrow please refer to top pic which would be the back side of your pump and you'll see/feel a knurled cap on the top of the black tank. That's your hydraulic oil reservoir. My cap has a dipstick attached and the owners manual online says if yours doesn't then to fill to approx 1" from the top. Hope this helps.

Edit:
See the yellow arrow on the right side of the picture. You unscrew that cap and there is a dipstick attached to the underside of the cap.

Perfect - thank you. That was the pop off cap I referred to earlier with a foam filter inside. I tried to unscrew it but it was super tight. Thought I’d better enquire before getting down and dirty …

Mine was on pretty tight as well...
Don't recall a foam filter, but anything is possible..
A quick call to GHS might help. The few times I called they were very helpful.
