I'am brand new to this site, looks to be alot of knowalgeable people on here, so here it goes.

Currently I have a 1965 Crestliner Chieftian with a Mercury 650 OB, and I'am looking to upgrade, a little bit.
I found a 1974 Sea Ray SRV 200 for sale looks to be in good shape, seats are not origional, engine starts and runs good, sterndrive raises and lowers well, all in all it looks really sweet.

My question is that it seems Sea Ray doesn't carry parts for boats older than 1989, why is this? Also there are no manuals avialable for this boat. Where do I get them from? Tried that Captian Ron, but the link is no longer working.
I don't think I will need parts so soon, but it makes the possible purchase much easier.
I consider myself pretty handy with mechanical stuff, rebuilt engines and transmissions and so on. It just makes it nice to have the manuals to help the process.
Any info, suggestions, and expertise is very welcome.
sorry for the lon post
Thanks in advance,

Brian,

Searay.com has parts manuals should be available on their website in the archives. I just bought an older Sea Ray this year also. Parts are hit and miss, or need to be custom fabricated as I'm finding out.

There are two places that may have parts you are looking for. One is on North River Rd., west of Jefferson (accross the side street from West Marine) and I can't remember the name. The other place is Checker Marine, down near Luna Pier by the Ohio border.

Both places part out boats and you'll have to go their with part numbers, dimensions, etc. and physically look to see if they have what you need.

Hope this helps.

Yea, your right. The SeaRay website has brochure images that go back to 1960 (though 1973-75 are missing?), and manuals only going back to 1989. Shameful.

I have a 1995 and needed some parts. A lot of them were discontinued and I found it hard to get good service at the dealers, presumably because I didn't buy it from them, its a small boat, and its old.

Wish they took better care of those old classics out there. I guess there is not much of an demand for aftermarket reproductions on boat...like there are for classic cars.

SeaRays were especially popular on the West Coast in the early days. There are several 'boat salvage yards' out here that have a lot of old SeaRays.

Try some of these:

Haven't purchased anything from any of them so I have no idea of the quality of service. Having a 1978 SeaRay myself, I just save these sites when I run across them, knowing the need may arise. Good luck.

I bought an excellent OMC CD ROM on Ebay, less that 10 buck shipped. It covers 30+ years of OMC Drives starting in 1962. The CD contains the entire manual for my 77, and it covers the engine, outdrive, steering, and electrical. Pretty much everything except the SeaRay shell and trim. I'm winterizing the boat this weekend, so I'll just print the few pages I need. Here's a link to the seller's online Store.
