I asked on iboats.com but no responds. So I'm asking about it here again.

I heard people said good thing about boatUS's, and NBOA's.

NBOA's seems to be about 40% less expensive ($35000 agreed value for the boat, $10000 for the trailer, for ~$380 vs ~$680)

Is there anything real negative about their policies? I think they're underwritten by AIG and their policy titled "Chartis policy" if that matters.

Thank you

No problems with NBOA. Underwriting is solid.

Is there anything I need to make sure included in the policy? Or is it pretty comprehensive already ?

I've not had any issues with NBOA either, but then again I've never had a claim. I found significant savings as well when I switched from BoatUS to NBOA three years ago.

We used NBOA forever and they were excellent....I never had a claim, but customer service and premiums were good

We moved from Boat US to NBOA as we saved quite a bit. They seem fine so far. Thankfully no claims to date as generally it's not really until you have a cliam you get the full pic.

Is there any ... test? Hahaha. Not that I'm gonna do it, since I'm buying the policy tomorrow. But just saying it.

Maybe just calling in saying certain scenarios to see what their responds like? Hehehe. Probably not practical.

But I guess if customer service is good it's probably good too. I'm just not so clear what's customer service really mean though. For a boat insurance, what possibly you would need as far as customer service goes?!

In any case, I just hope nothing would ever happen :), would be tough, but not impossible right?

Hope everyone has a great & safe Memorial Day weekends.

NBOA cut my insurance in half by switching to them. I also had a $13K 3 years ago and they paid 95% of it after my deductible. They have me with Ace (Cigna) currently and my premium did not go up after the claim.

My Insurance due and went up and I have never had a claim so thought I get some quotes. Got seven quotes in the amounts of $2900.00 To $3600.00 per year. Then the eight from BoatUS $7300.00 with the least coverage so thought maybe They made a mistake called them up no that is correct but we have the best insurance watch what you bye I should hope so lol. My answer to them yes watch what you bye you can also be had. I went On BoatUs Internet site and posted these quotes was sent E-mail told please remove it told them no I think its my Right and if you remove it I will put it back is is only the truth.
My question who does everyone have there insurance with and do you like them and is BoatUS just that high are don't want to insure anyone on the gulf coast
SO I THINK BOAT US IS A BUNCH OF CROOKS !!!!!!!

Ok! :).

Someone is surely mad and someone else. Hehehe.

I think it's time for a relax weekends, where we gonna at least temparorily forget about stress, negatives in lives and enjoy our boat, shall we? :)

I have NBOA, and have also had a claim with them.

2010 season - I snagged a crab pot float that was underwater. It had one of those PVC poles with the float up top, and a plastic bottle filled with concrete on the bottom. Apparently, the pot got drug or dropped into water too deep for the float to hit the surface. When that little plastic bottle got wedged in between my counter rotating props, the input shaft on the drive sheared. NBOA took care of the towing, and replaced my $13k drive. They were fantastic to deal with, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Nice referral! :). I like that.

Calling them right now. Gotta prep up for this weekends.

Again, anything I need to ask them making sure I'm all covered?

NBOA saved me 1/2 over Progressive. Make sure you tell them your cruising area. They asked me and I limited it. That saved even more.

Thanks! That's really good to know, because like I posted earlier, until you have a claim you really don't know how good your insurance is. I know we saved a ton of money with NBOA over Boat US:) Thanks again for posting, very reassuring!

They were super. I was very apprehensive about how they would react to the event. Within the 1st 2 minutes of the call, a check for the towing was on its way, and they were already making arrangements for a surveyor to come inspect the damage.

I also limited my cruisung area, but I asked them if I could extend my coverage if I wanted to make a trip outside of that area. They said yes. Please try to verify that when you speak with them.
