My genny randomly stopped supplying power today while being on the water for 20 or so minutes. It was reading 0 when I went downstairs, but was still running. I flipped the switch on the side of the genny, and reset the breaker inside with no luck - anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Do you get even a blip on the meter when you switch over? If so, it's the exciter. Try to apply a steady, large load like the water heater or a stove burner.

Find your Westerbeke manual and there should be a trouble shooting section inside. If it's not the breaker and you find no bad fuses, there should be instructions to test the capacitor and diodes. More than likely it's one of those two things.

When I switched over, I left some of the breakers switched, AC, and outlets. It did slightly spike, and when I mean slightly, it went from negative load, under the 0, to maybe 4 volts.

I did find it, and checked in the troubleshooting section - It didn't list anything about firing up with no output of power.
