Air conditioning not staying on (going on and off and appears the compressor isn't running ) when running the generator should the idle be turned up? The output gage is registered at 50 percent when The generator is running Sea Ray 300

Can you give me a little more info? What Genset do you have? Does the AC work fine on shore power? When was the Genset last tuned up? FWC?

Like what the previous post has asked...does it run fine on shore power? If it's running well on shore power, the first thing I would check is the electrical output of the generator.

With a frequency meter (hz) check the output of the generator at any wall outlet. You should be seeing pretty near 60hz. If you're seeing more or less that's where I would start. The generator must be putting out enough electricity or the AC unit senses the lack/abundance of current and shuts itself off as a safety.

You didn't mention what type of generator you had so I can't offer any help with getting the frequency adjusted.

With out knowing the answers to the above questions, for AC only check your filters & turn your fan speed all the way up.

I had my forward AC unit doing something similar, called AC technician and he told me to clean the filters and crank the fan speed.

Because of summer water temperatures your AC may think it's overheating, increasing the fan speed will move more air through cooling it's self. that's what I remember hearing, technical details may be slightly off. -- for me it did the trick, no issues
