Generator.

I have a friend that has a mid 90's 500 . He just lost his 13k generator. Not sure of whole story but I think a oil ring blew and immediately lost oil. Anyways, he is not on forum but I have always had success finding help. Any ideas where we might find a screamin deal on a diesel generator of comparable size? Thanks in advance .

why replace the whole thing? i assume the back end is fine? research exactly what motor it uses (onan, westerbeke, etc Do NOT manufacture the actual motors) and try to find a replacement or rebuild it with parts directly from the engines maker/aftermarket - NOT the generator company.......this does not have to be that expensive.....if he is hell bent on replacement - there are a number of places in florida (some on ebay) that sell remans outright or with a core.....buyer beware, some used units have been underwater....

Check ebay. There a few places that sell refurb'd Westerbekes. If you don't see what you need, you can call and ask them if they have one.
