39 searay express cruise. Looking for information & parts list for the 8.5 kw. generator. Need water pump impeller. Who makes the merc. genny?. Since the boat is now wrapped up I cant get any specs until the spring. Any info would be appreciated.

Do a search on the site for Generac. I have Quick silver gernerator and the good people on this site directed me on how to get parts. I took the water pump impeller to Merc dealer he got me a new one with very little difficulty. He could not get any other parts.

Greg, give Dennis a call at Advanced Service and Parts. They have access to a pretty good amount of parts for these units and their prices are reasonable. I know they carry the impeller because I ordered one myself. Here's a link for it. http://www.partsfortechs.com/asapcart/generac-69853-impeller-quicksilver-47810567-p-525.html
Dennis and all the staff there are all very helpful and will spend the time on the phone with you answering any questions you may have.

Here's a link to their site.

The generator portion of your QS generator was made by Generac. The engine is probably a Nissan (if it's the same as those of us with the 6.5kw and 7.5kw models). For those of you who already know this pardon the redundancy. I prefer to give info when possible rather than chastise people to "do a search."

The engine is a 4 cylinder 987cc Nissan engine that was used in the Nissan March and Nissan Micra. Two BIG selling tiny cars Nissan sold in Europe and Japan in the early to late 80s. Forget about getting parts at Nissan. I took the distributor cap in to a Nissan dealer and they had no clue what I was showing them.

Cap'n Tim gave you a good site to explore and a great source for information. I eventually ordered the cap, rotor, points, and condenser from parts-for-techs. I got sparkplug wires at an auto parts store (I told the guy I wanted wires for a 1986 Nissan Pulsar and other than being about 2" longer, they worked out great). The drive belt (not timing belt) can be matched up with something off the shelf at an auto parts place. PO of my boat replaced the entire raw water pump with a Jabsco so I was able to order the impeller from a Jabsco dealer.

For some of the engine parts this could be a good source as well...
