My 4.5kw BCBG gas generator Sundancer 340 01 stars and run smoothly for about 5 minute or so with out a load. After 5 minute or so it start surging more and more frequently until it stalls and shuts down. It won't start until a few hours. It start and dose the same thing. I have change the plugs, fuel & oil filter, raw water pump, rebuild carburetor. My next thing is change fuel lift pump has any body had this issue on there gene. To replaced the fuel lift pump is going to be a B----. Any one replace the lift fuel pump? How hard was it to remove replaced it? Did you used the Westerbeke oem or used a aftermarket? The oem is $170 aftermarket Facet Cube style looks the same $60.00 and if you used the Facet did it work fine.

If it is the original fuel pump it is 17 years old and probably shot. Before you replace it though.....shoot some carb cleaner in the carb the next time it quits and see if it starts back up. That is a pretty good test to determine if it isn't getting fuel. Another way is to throw a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what it says.

I have used the Facet style pump before and it works. Basically the carb likes 3-4 psi ....much more than that and it will over power the float.

Access on your boat is not much fun which is why I would make sure it is the fuel pump.

TY Playdate I will shoot some carb cleaner in the carburetor. Any tip on how to remove that fuel pump. The gene only have 360 hours on 17 a years.

There is no easy way. The only good news is that the fuel pump is located near the carb. The only practical way is to lay across the engines to get there.
