So my generator transfer switch has a line 1 position line 1&2 position and the Generator position, when I'm at the dock I'm always in the line 1&2 position on shore power, Before I pull away from the dock I crank up the Generator and let it warm up my question is can I just throw the switch to the Generator position before I unplug the shore power or should I turn everything off, a/c's,fridge,lights etc unplug shore power and then throw the switch and turn everything back on ?

The main panel should have a master breaker for each line. When you switch to generator the master breaker for both lines should be off before you do anything with unplugging or switching to generator. High current items like the hot water heater and AC should be turned off when you switch to lessen the initial current draw. Then switched back on one at a time.
