Generator Question

I just purchased a 2005 280 and would like to know the proper sequence for using the generator. Should I leave the seacock open at all times? I have been told that but I am unsure. Your help would be appreciated. This is my first cruiser boat.

Thank you. I know I will have more questions as I go forward. The used boat store I purchased from was not a lot of help in showing the processes.

Have the seacock open whenever you are running the generator. At all other times, I close mine. I figure it's one less failure point to worry about.

I never close my seacock except to exercise it. It is just to hard to get to.

I agree with MonacoMike, the only time I close my seacock on the Genny is to clean the strainer.

Put me in the same category as Mike and Sea Dog. Only closed when its cleaning time.

Only close mine when cleaning as well. Same for the AC.
