We have a 1999 Sundancer 370DA (gas). Does anyone know the Carling part # for the momentary switch? Someone told my husband the switch has to put out at least 11.5 volts. We are having problem starting the generator from the panel. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't and we think it might be the switch. We have the on/off switch already.:smt100

Connie,

The easiest thing to do is pull the number off the old switch. Since it works from time to time...the switch is a good place to start. In most cases, you actually have to remove the switch from the panel to see the number. Make sure to switch off the main generator battery switch before you remove the momentary switch from the panel.

Thank John, will Carling be able to cross this #. I know their #'s start with letters.

How many terminals on the back, and how many positions, is it just push to start?
I'm a carling dealer so I should be able to help you with the number

I'm based in Australia though, so not offering to sell it. Just help with the number

You can get all your replacement rocker switches here. They have them listed with both the Sea Ray part number and the Carling part number. http://www.searay-parts.com/Switch-s/34.htm?searching=Y&sort=13&cat=34&show=40&page=7. There are a couple of generator start switches on the page I referenced. So once you pull the part (or look in your parts manual for the Sea Ray part number), you should be able to match it right up.

There are 4 on the back (2 on the bottom and 2 in the middle momentary switch) and the only thing is says on the switch is Carling Technologies, Mexico with # 0646R.

Connie,

Can you upload a picture of the front and the back of the switch? That would really help sort it out.

Connie,

These should be your switches. Take a look at the DC Panel diagram in the link below.

Start Run Switch
18 345553 SWITCH, ROCK 2CKT PROG (this is the switch)
679324 ACTUATOR, ROCK BLK W/BLUE LENS ACCY (this is on fpmarine.com it is a cover not the switch)

Pre Heat Switch
19 353649 SWITCH, ROCK DPST ON/OFF (can be found on ebay)

I think this is the switch you have, on the flounder pounder link shared above. 4 terminals to me, indicates it is a Double Pole (DP) Single Throw switch (ST) = DPST......No LED indicator lamp.

So I presume it is a straight start sw. Basically Push to operate, springs back when you remove your finger.

VB4A-1 Carling (ON)/OFF Momentary double pole rocker switch no lamp VB4A-1 Sea Ray part # 670539 1526698 Emergency start

You can either remove your actuator off your switch or purchase a new one, they just push on

Hope that helps

Well we tested the voltage today and found when we push the Preheat button and tested it at the chock we were only getting 8.75 volts which is not enough to close the chock. We have been told you need at least 11.5 volts.

That's true...but make sure you have 12 volts at the switch to start with. That is a $20 switch on ebay. However, the best way to determine if it is the switch and not a wire issue is to jump the terminals at the switch (simulating the switch closing). If the you see the linkage set itself then it is the switch. If it doesn't move....you still have a wire issue to sort out.
