Gas Guzzlers!
I have a 2001 410 DA. Westerbeke gen. The gen starts and runs fine, except for sometimes it just quits and sounds the alarm. It will start right back up and may go for hours and hours with no more issue, or it may do it again in 30 minutes. I've checked the fluids and had new impeller installed at the beginning of the season. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I had an Onan gen that would do something like that and it turned out to be the fuel pump going bad. What size genset do you have? More info may be helpfull.

Is it possible when you had the fuel pump replaced that they might have been a fuel line that caused a crack in the outer casing that is now letting air into the fuel?

I had a fuel line on the back side of my Westerbeke that cracked and periodically would shut down. Mine is diesel powered, but an air leak into a gas genny might do the same thing. Small cracks like that are a ***** to find. You have to rub your hand along every line to feel for the crack.

Very possible....I will check that when there this weekend. I also tt the MM service tech. He asked about what code was showing on the smart display...my bad, I've just been going directly down to the panel and re-starting without looking at display on dash. I will also do this next time. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.,..

On the cooling side, if the old impellers lost their vanes at any point in time and those vanes weren't fished out, they will create water restriction.

When was the last heat exchanger serviced?
How's your sea strainer?
How's you scoop strainer? It's possible that you picked up something that restricts the water intake.

My Kohler (when I bought the boat) would start and run for a few seconds and then shut down. I don't remember the code it would throw. It turns out the battery was bad. The dealer replaced it and it ran fine. Could it be a loose electrical connection?

Mine would do that turned out to be a loose connection on the oil sending unit.
