Generator Coolant

I just had my boat serviced...both engs and gen and here is what the coolant reservoir looks like....i am assuming this is low...

Don't you have three overflow tanks. That one does look quite low. Make sure you top things off with the correct color. You can't mix them.
 
Right! Orange and green can't be mixed. I think you have GM Dexcool coolant (orange) here.
 
Yes it is GM Dex Cool.

Yep... I see now. That would be the Generator resivoir? Very low... the operating range is between the H-L marks.
 
I suspect your generator has been running warm from either a bad impeller or a clog in the system - causing you to use some coolant.

So... Does that cause the coolant to be burned off. I have to top mine off often. In 100hr or so I'm on my 3rd impeller.
 
When mine had a clog - it started burning off some coolant - a little quicker - since replacing the impeller twice a season and flushing the system - minimal coolant loss.
