A little early to think about this yet but something that was a PIA last year for me was the winterizing/fogging of our genset. I filled a bucket with AF and wrestled the intake hose off the sea strainer. I put the hose into the bucket, fired it up, and simultaneously sprayed the fogging oil down the carb. The genny sucked a surprisingly huge amount of AF through and the 5 gallon bucket was empty in no time and I was so contorted to try and get the oil down the carb i nearly ran the impeller dry.

The combo of doing both fogging and AF was just a pain, anyone else do it differently?

I make up the cocktail like I do for my big motor in the spin on gas filter. Crank the engine on water until I am sure I have ingested some of the mix. Then I pull the hose like you do and do the AF thing.

Great idea, I didn't even think of the spin on filter since its recommended for EFI but I can't imagine it would do anything negative to the carb. At least that method allows me to focus on making sure the AF comes out the exhaust and it doesn't run dry

Thanks!

I have a 5 gallon jug of pink on deck hooked with an adapter (I made) to the raw water line..
I start the genny while watching the pink deplete while spraying fogging oil into the carb.

Easy, and no reason to see the pink out the exhaust because, the jug is empty...I know where it went.

Dont know of your gennys placement so, might not be so convenient in your application.

Using the cocktail in the spin-on filter, I only need 1 gallon of AF...and you are correct... It sucks up a gallon very quickly. I have done it this way for 3 years w/o issue.

My Genny is a nightmare to work on. It's on the port side and the carb faces outboard so it's a blind shot to work on. I know it's silly to want to see the pink come out the exhaust but it helps calm my paranoia.

Bump the starter a couple of times or briefly start while I pour a gallon of pink into the strainer. Drain the muffler, change anode.
