Gear/drive lube monitor eliminated?

I have noticed that the previous owner eliminated the drive lube monitors on my engines.

Why would someone do this?

The reservoir is empty and has no hose running from it. The wires are still intact to the bottom of the reservoir. The Port engine drive lube monitor location is empty.

Anyone see this before?

You might want to check and see if you now have the older style bravo. They didn't have the remote oil option. They just filled at the drive plug and that was that.

I'd be interested in that oil bottle if you don't want it.Mine has somehow gotten melted by a previous idiot.

EDIT:: I see you have Alpha's....Hmmmm.Never knew them back then to have the oil bottle.

Yeah shore did some more investigating and it seems in 88' they did not have the gear lube monitor. Apparently, my boat was re-powered in 2007 and the engines were swapped and they had the gear lube bottle on them.

I've seen an aftermarket kit that I am considering for my Alpha 1 next year. It's made by Diversified Marine and cost about $90. If you already have the bottles, you would just need the hoses, thru-hulls, and a bit of ingenuity.
